Official transliteration of Ukrainian alphabet is validated

The Cabinet of Ministers has confirmed the official transliteration of Ukrainian alphabet. From now Ukrainian letter Аа is transliterated by Latin Aа, Бб – Bb, Вв – Vv, Гг – Hh, Ґґ – Gg, Дд – Dd, Ее – Eе, Єє – Ye (at the beginning of the word), ie (in other positions), Жж – Zh zh, Зз – Zz, Ии – Yy, Іі – Ii, Її – Yi (at the beginning of the word), i (in other positions), Йй – Y (at the beginning of the word), i (in other positions), Kk, Лл – Ll, Мм – Mm, Нн – Nn, Оо – Oo, Пп – Pp, Рр – Rr, Сс – Ss, Тт – Tt, Уу – Uu, Фф – Ff, Хх – Kh kh, Цц – Ts ts, Чч – Ch ch, Шш – Sh sh, Щщ – Shch shch, Юю – Yu (at the beginning of the word), іu (in other positions), Яя – Ya (at the beginning of the word), ia (in other positions).

Letter combination “зг” is reproduced as “zgh” (Розгон – Rozghon), unlike “zh”, that corresponds to Ukrainian letter “ж”. Soft sign (Ьь) and apostrophe (’) aren’t reproduced by Roman alphabet.
